Evidence for God?

[From Pharyngula]:

A very devout Catholic was trapped on an elevator for a while, and after it was working again, rushed to church to thank God. Then, something unfortunate happened:

He seems to have embraced a stone pillar on which the stone altar was perched and it fell on him, killing him instantly. We have found his fingerprints on the pillar. We are now investigating the case further

This is a sad story, but I have to ask. This guy clearly viewed his escape from the elevator as evidence for god; if he survived the church accident would he have viewed that similarly? Would he have counted it has evidence against god? It wouldn’t be right to actually ask them but if one could, does his family think this counts as evidence either way?

The problem with the faithful is it seems everything confirms their belief and nothing refutes it. In science, that’s called unfalsifiable – for laymen, that’s called bullshit.
